Hello, this is Rachel. It has been nearly a month(!) since I posted my last drawing. I am sorry for being gone for a long while. I have decided to reason why I have been on a break for nearly a month, along with some other news related to Wada Rachel, which affects the future for this website.
The reason I have been not posting any drawings for a while was because a few weeks ago I went back to school. I had to do a lot of homework for a few weeks, and I was unable to post a drawing. I am currently planning a drawing that centers on a trio that manages the website. Although the team consists of Rachel, Butterscotch (my cat), and Don Wada (the subject for this website), I control all of what happens on the site, in other words, the team is a one-person group. It is a real pain in the butt to fix any typos and translations on my website.
Future of Wada Rachel
Nothing bad is going to happen to Wada Rachel, but I want to address some issues that have been bothering me for the past few days. This is mostly about the Taiko no Tatsujin Fan-made Content Policy that Bandai Namco established.
So, the Taiko no Tatsujin Fan-made Content Policy (https://taiko-ch.net/ip_policy/) is a policy that Bandai Namco created so that people can have a peace of mind. This policy allows fans to freely create fan-made content if they follow the rules of the policy, to which I have an opinion on.
Recently, I saw a tweet that states that “…[you] can’t draw outside characters from the Taiko no Tatsujin franchise...” This concerns me since I was planning to include other characters in my drawings (such as Himiko from beatmania IIDX [to which I already did.]) Since Wada Rachel is a fanart site that focuses on Don Wada and other donderfied characters (characters from outside the Taiko franchise drawn in a taiko style to that of Don and Katsu,) this is a major problem to me, because I believe that as a person who wants to express their imagination, this policy is limiting my freedom to draw characters that I really love and to share it all over the world. Another thing I would like to point out is that the fan-made policy does not allow music from the Taiko no Tatsujin games to be used in fan-made content. This really sucks because I love to listen to music from Taiko no Tatsujin. Seeing YouTube videos of the songs taken down make me sad and feel like Taiko no Tatsujin music is hard to find (especially poxei◆DOON, in which the climax sounded so good it almost made me cry.)
Since this policy had been established, it makes me worry that one day Wada Rachel will be taken down because I violated the fan-made content policy. I am very artistic about my drawings and if they get taken down it will break my heart. Just imagine, you took over a week to finish your full-of-effort drawing, and then one day you publish it and then a few days later it had been taken down by Namco because you included a character from outside the series. I hate it when such beautiful drawings are taken down because the user got banned/deleted/or-whatever-they-did. I am trying my best to follow this policy to avoid request of removal of my drawing, or a worst-case scenario, a cease-and-desist letter from Namco.
Now it’s time to talk about news related to Wada Rachel. I’m planning to open and sub-blog that focuses on people, however, I don’t know how to draw people yet. I been drawing taiko drums for years and it’s about time I better draw something else. It will be focused on characters from beatmania IIDX and maybe other characters.
Other than that, maybe fix some errors and update all versions of the site. Until then, see you later!
